China Deploying 1,000 Humanoid Robots as Labors

With intentions to mass-produce humanoid robots for commercial uses, China’s UBTech Robotics is making major advancements in artificial intelligence and automation. Between 500 and 1,000 Walker S Series humanoid robots will be introduced by the corporation across several sectors, including logistics and automotive manufacturing. With nearly 60% of the whole rollout this year accounted for, the Walker S2 model is expected to rule deliveries.
The program arises as companies search for automated solutions as manufacturing sectors experience growing labor shortages. Reports state that these humanoid robots will be used in companies, including those run by tech behemoths like Apple supplier Foxconn and shipping company SF Express as well as top automakers.
Transforming Industrial Labor with Robots Powered by AI
Among the several models in UBTech’s Walker S series are the Walker S, Walker S1, and forthcoming Walker S2. To enable effective and exact cooperation with human workers on manufacturing assembly lines, these robots combine sophisticated artificial intelligence, perceptual systems, and mobility characteristics.
Designed for accurate environmental sensing and task execution, the Walker S series boasts 41 servo joints and an array of sensors—including optical, auditory, and distance sensors. Launched last October, the Walker S1 has already been included in significant automotive manufacturing lines, including those of BYD, the top electric vehicle producer in China. The success of the humanoid has resulted in more than 500 orders from big automakers.

In the second quarter of this year, the business is getting ready to introduce the Walker S2, a smaller and more powerful variation of its current humanoid robot. By the end of the year, UBTech is also slated to unveil yet another variation on its humanoid robot line. The company’s emphasis stays on making humanoid robots a necessary component of industrial and logistical activities as it keeps improving its technologies.

With several fresh companies joining the market, China’s robotics industry is getting more and more competitive. Agibot, sometimes known as Zhiyuan Robotics, has declared intentions to produce 1,000 commercial humanoid robots. When this Shanghai-based company debuted its first humanoid robot model in August 2023, it went viral.
Global tech behemoths are also vying for control of humanoid robotics concurrently. To transform automation in several industries, Tesla, for example, has set eyes on mass-producing humanoid robots by 2026. UBTech thinks its great experience in humanoid robotics gives it an advantage even with growing competitiveness.
