Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan recently announced the addition of three thrilling new hiking experiences to its already excellent list of outdoor adventure activities. In addition, they have developed a new registration system for climbers attempting to summit the famed Mt Fuji. New initiatives have been launched to improve visitors’ experiences in the region’s stunning landscapes, all while highlighting the necessity of protecting Mt. Fuji and guaranteeing climbers’ safety.

FUJI SUNRISE, a local tour company, has recently introduced three new hiking experiences that aim to highlight the breathtaking natural landscapes of Shizuoka and the world-renowned Mt. Fuji. New tours now available offer a variety of options to suit different interests, including peaceful forest hikes and demanding mountain climbs.

The Fuji Sunrise Hike Private Tour is a five-hour adventure starting at an elevation of 1,400 meters in Shizuoka’s Mizugatsuka area. This guided hike, available from September to April, takes participants through the tranquil, starlit forests leading up to Futatsuzuka—two parasitic volcanoes on Mt. Fuji. The tour culminates at the summit just in time for sunrise, providing a breathtaking view of the daybreak.

Year-round operations of the East Fuji Nature Hike Private Tour bring still another benefit to FUJI SUNRISE. This five-hour hike reveals Shizuoka’s volcanic topography and rich forests as it explores the eastern foothills of Mt. Fuji. This trip lets visitors really experience the several settings around the well-known summit of Japan.

For those seeking a more immersive experience, the Mt. Fuji 2-Day Climb Private Tour provides an overnight adventure. Climbers embark on the Fujinomiya Route, the shortest of the four main climbing routes, and spend a night on the mountain before reaching the summit at sunrise on the second day. This tour is available during Mt. Fuji’s official climbing season, which runs from July to September.

Each tour from FUJI SUNRISE includes the services of an expert English-speaking guide. Prices for the tours start at 38,000 JPY per group for the East Fuji Nature Hike Private Tour, 44,000 JPY per group for the Fuji Sunrise Hike Private Tour, and 110,000 JPY per group for the Mt. Fuji 2-Day Climb Private Tour. Groups can consist of up to seven people per guide.

In addition to these exciting new hiking options, the Shizuoka Prefectural Government has introduced the Shizuoka Prefecture Mt. Fuji Climbing Pre-Registration System. This new initiative is part of an effort to better protect Mt. Fuji and ensure climbers have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Before starting their ascent, climbers hoping to conquer Mount Fuji by any of Shizuoka’s three paths—Fujinomiya, Gotemba, or Subashiri—must now complete an online registration form. This program includes an e-learning course on mountain safety and climbing manners. Climbers registering get a QR code that needs to be shown at specified mountain checkpoints.

Climbers are advised to donate 1,000 JPY per person even if registration is free. These gifts will help with continuous maintenance of Mount Fuji so that next generations may appreciate its beauty.

Along with the redesigned registration system, these new trips show an increasing dedication to enhance tourist experiences while keeping protecting one of Japan’s most prized natural resources. Combining new safety and registration policies with guided treks offering original viewpoints on Shizuoka’s landscapes shows a proactive dedication to preserving the natural beauty of the region.

As the number of visitors to Mount Fuji grows, these projects are likely to play an important role in balancing tourism and conservation. Shizuoka Prefecture hopes that by providing a range of hiking experiences and instituting a thorough registration process, Mt. Fuji will remain a safe, sustainable, and awe-inspiring destination for explorers from all over the world.

The latest updates to Shizuoka’s hiking offers and Mt. Fuji climbing rules represent a substantial step toward improving outdoor activities while maintaining environmental stewardship. As vacationers and hikers embrace these new chances, they will not only enjoy the breathtaking scenery but also help to preserve this unique mountain.
