New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significance of a strong government with majority in enabling the approval of the longstanding women’s reservation bill. He asserted that a majority-backed government was pivotal in propelling the nation’s progress.

Addressing a gathering organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Mahila Morcha to celebrate the passage of the women’s reservation bill in Parliament, he emphasized that this legislation represented more than just a routine enactment; it symbolized a renewed commitment to democracy in a modern India.

We feel privileged to have been entrusted by millions of Indians with the responsibility of making history. The event—the women’s quota bill—will be a subject of discourse for generations…Certain decisions hold the power to alter the course of a nation’s future, and the successful passage of this bill is one such decision, he affirmed.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that discussions about reserving seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies had persisted for nearly three decades, pointing out that previous endeavors lacked dedication and sometimes even resulted in indignity towards women.

Taking a swipe at parties such as the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Samajwadi Party (SP), known critics of the bill in its current form, PM Modi noted that those very political entities, which once tore copies of the women’s reservation bill in Parliament, were now backing it.

Following the president’s approval and the ensuing notification—a procedural formality—the Constitution amendment bill is poised to become law.

This development serves as evidence of the realization of Modi’s pledge to usher in a new era of women-led progress, he declared, amidst fervent cheers from the substantial female audience at the BJP headquarters.

Citing various initiatives and policies of his government aimed at women’s well-being, PM Modi affirmed that considerable efforts had been made to empower them through programs addressing their security, dignity, and prosperity.

PM Awas Yojana granted women property rights, Beti Padhao Beti Bachao scheme ensured women’s education, and Muslim women are now emancipated from the constraints of Triple Talaq, he stated.
