With the launch of direct, low-cost flights between Singapore and Colombo, Sri Lanka, Jetstar Asia has declared a significant increase in its route network. Starting on November 21, 2024, Jetstar Asia will be the only low-cost carrier providing this route, marking a historic turning point for the airline and increasing travel possibilities for individuals wishing to visit the energetic Colombo.
Operating five return flights a week with its fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft, the low-cost airline is based in Singapore. This new path, designed to meet rising demand for reasonably priced international travel, is estimated to enable more than 90,000 low-fare travel options between Singapore and Colombo each year.

From Changi Airport, the new flights will have a split schedule with morning and evening departures. Starting their trip in Singapore and connecting via Jetstar Airways (JQ) daily flights from Melbourne and up to six weekly flights from Perth, this scheduling seeks to give more flexibility for travelers. The change aims to enhance passenger convenience and connectivity during travel to and from Colombo.
In its launch, Jetstar Asia has unveiled promotional one-way flights starting at just SG$ 149. Even cheapClub Jetstar members can enjoy even lower rates, starting at SG$139. can more easily visit Sri Lanka’s rich cultural legacy, breathtaking scenery, and kind hospitality thanks to these low rates.
Emphasizing Colombo as a top destination for all kinds of tourists, John Simeone, CEO of Jetstar Asia, expressed excitement about the new route. “Colombo offers an array of experiences ideal for adventure seekers, romantic getaways, and family vacations; it is the gateway to Sri Lanka,” Simeone stated. “With our amazing low fares, we’re happy to give more chances for people to experience the beauty of Sri Lanka, from its gorgeous beaches to its rich history and dynamic food scene.”
Simeone thanked important partners, including Changi Airport Group, Sri Lanka Tourism, Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka, and Hayleys. “This announcement represents our will to grow our network with interesting new locations,” Simeone said.
As a revolutionary breakthrough for the travel industry, Chalaka Gajabahu, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, welcomed Jetstar Asia. “Direct flights from Singapore to Colombo by Jetstar Asia will greatly increase tourism and provide fresh opportunities for passengers,” Gajabahu said. “We congratulate Jetstar Asia and look forward to a successful cooperation that will provide our guests with unforgettable experiences.”
Eng. Athula Galketiya, Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) expressed optimism about the additional flights. “This new service will improve the travel experience for local and international visitors,” Galketiya said. “We value Jetstar Asia’s selection of Bandaranaike International Airport and hope for good effects on Sri Lanka’s aviation and tourism sectors.”
Mr. Lim Ching Kiat, Changi Airport Group Executive Vice President for Air Hub and Cargo Development at Changi Airport Group, emphasized the importance of Jetstar Asia’s new route with assistance. “Changi Airport compliments Jetstar Asia on starting this new service to Colombo,” Lim added. Popular travel destination Sri Lanka has seen a quick comeback following the epidemic. This new path will provide visitors with another great way to explore Sri Lanka’s many offerings.
Lim also emphasized the advantages for Sri Lankan visitors, who can use this new route to get to Singapore and pass Changi Airport as a gateway to Southeast Asia and beyond.
