At Disneyland Resort, 19 wish children were given to an enchanted Star Wars-themed trip this week that will leave lifelong memories in a quite remarkable environment. Titled “Blaze Your Path: A Star Wars Adventure,” this unique event united youngsters from Make-A-Wish and other wish organizations to fulfill their Star Wars-themed dreams.

Virtual Star Wars Experience
At Disneyland Resort, where the enchantment of the Star Wars universe was realized, wish children and their families started an unforgettable trip. Children choose to pursue either the light or the dark road during an immersive breakfast that started the journey. The kids took part in unusual events including building droids, doing a scavenger hunt to assemble a lightsaber, welcoming surprise visits from beloved Star Wars characters, and dining and dessert party in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland park.

A Note of Hope
“We’re humbled that so many children choose Disney to realize their dreams,” said Disney Experiences chairman Josh D’Amaro, a Make- a- Wish America board member. At our parks and events worldwide, we are continuously discovering creative and distinctly Disney methods to fulfill dreams. These statements really reflect Disney’s dedication to provide kids with serious diseases life-changing events.

Wish Stories
The event saw the fulfillment of various Star Wars-related wishes, each uniquely special to the children involved:

  • Dylan, 14, from California:
Wished to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland Resort.
  • Kenobi, 13, from North Dakota:
Dreamed of making his own lightsaber and droid at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
  • Shepherd, 10, from Texas:
Wanted to visit Disneyland Resort and meet his favorite Star Wars characters.

Pre-Adventure Surprises
Before the adventure began, Disney Consumer Products added an extra dose of magic by surprising families with Star Wars-themed backpacks filled with accessories, LEGO® toys and sets, Funko Pop! numbers, pins, and other figures. Disney Publishing also helped by offering a range of Star Wars novels, hence increasing the buzz and expectation for the event.

Leslie Motter, president and CEO of Make-A- Wish America, said, “It’s a testimonial to the passion and commitment to the Make-A- Wish mission that Disney continues to find new and creative ways to deliver truly life-changing experiences for wish kids and their families.” She underlined the relevance of such events. This event gives wish kids and their families a chance to feel like a normal family again – perhaps for the first time since the start of their medical journey. The stress, fear, and anxiety that come with their illness are the furthest things from their minds.”

Continuing the Magic
Following the Star Wars adventure, families are spending the remainder of their visits enjoying Disneyland Resort, including stays at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. These experiences provide an opportunity for families to create lasting memories and enjoy the magic of Disneyland together.

Longstanding Commitment to Wishes
Wish granting has always been a fundamental part of the magic at Disneyland Resort. “Blaze Your Path: A Star Wars Adventure” is just one of the many ways Disney helps grant wishes across its various experiences. For nearly 45 years, Disney has partnered with Make-A-Wish to make dreams come true for children fighting critical illnesses. Since the first official wish was granted at Disneyland Resort, Disney has fulfilled over 155,000 wishes globally in collaboration with Make-A-Wish, making it the largest wish granter in the world.

The “Blaze Your Path: A Star Wars Adventure” event at Disneyland Resort is evidence of the potency of desires and Disney’s will to make youngsters and their families happy and hopeful. Disney keeps raising hopes and inspiring people overcoming difficult medical conditions by designing original and immersive events.
