Controversy Surrounds ‘Leo’ Movie’s Soundtrack

The recently released Kollywood movie, ‘Leo,’ featuring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has been stirring up a mix of excitement and controversy among audiences and critics alike. Fans were eagerly awaiting the release of the ‘Ordinary Person’ track from the film, but its unveiling took an unexpected turn. Accusations of plagiarism have surfaced, pointing fingers at the renowned composer Anirudh.

The controversy revolves around the ‘Ordinary Person’ track from ‘Leo,’ with music enthusiasts claiming that it bears a striking resemblance to ‘Where Are You (2020),’ a track composed by Otnicka, a musician based in Belarus.

Upon the release of ‘Ordinary Person’ on YouTube, a section of viewers noticed the uncanny similarity between the song and ‘I’m Not Outsider,’ a track from the ‘Peaky Blinders’ series composed by Otnicka and Duke Luke. This discovery led to a barrage of messages, leaving Otnicka in a state of confusion.

Otnicka, taking to Instagram to address the situation, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response from fans regarding the movie ‘Leo.’ He also acknowledged that the situation is currently unclear, stating, “The situation is very unclear. We are looking into this, and a little later, I will give an assessment of everything that is happening.”

The musician went on to clarify that he had no knowledge of his song being used in ‘Leo’ and emphasized that the label did not hold the copyright for the track. As a result, no license could have been issued without his consent. He concluded by noting that neither the team nor the production of ‘Leo’ had reached out to him.

The controversy has left fans disappointed with Anirudh, who is accused of not acknowledging the original composer. It’s worth noting that Anirudh had previously faced backlash for slightly modifying a track from ‘Kill Bill: Volume 1’ for the ‘Badass’ song in ‘Leo.’ However, Anirudh has yet to respond to these allegations, leaving fans eagerly awaiting his side of the story.

‘Leo’ is the second collaboration between Thalapathy Vijay and director Lokesh Kanagaraj, following the success of ‘Master.’ The film features a screenplay written by Lokesh, Rathna Kumar, and Dheeraj Vaidy. Besides Vijay, the star-studded cast includes Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Mysskin, Sandy, and Gautham Menon in pivotal roles, along with several other notable supporting actors.

As the controversy surrounding the movie’s soundtrack continues to unravel, the ‘Leo’ team and music enthusiasts alike are awaiting a resolution to this contentious issue. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
