Emirates, the renowned airline, has announced the appointment of Mohammad Lootah as its new Country Manager for Switzerland, effective from July 2, 2024. Based in Emirates’ Zurich office, Lootah will be responsible for overseeing the airline’s entire business operations in Switzerland, including sales, service functions for passengers, and airport operations. This strategic appointment comes at a time when Emirates is reinforcing its commitment to the Swiss market, where it currently operates double-daily flights between Zurich, Geneva, and its global hub in Dubai.

Mohammad Lootah, a UAE national, brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having been with Emirates since 2016. Throughout his tenure with the airline, Lootah has held various management positions across the Middle East, including stints in Dubai, Riyadh, Kuwait, and Jordan. His most recent role was as Area Manager for Israel, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and operational acumen. Reporting to Thierry Aucoc, Senior Vice President Commercial Operations Europe and Russian Federation, Lootah is poised to leverage his extensive experience to enhance Emirates’ operations in Switzerland.

Expressing his enthusiasm for his new role, Lootah stated, “I am delighted to be leading Emirates’ operations in Switzerland, one of our key markets in Europe. I look forward to working with the local Emirates team to foster close collaboration with our local trade and industry partners and to develop and grow Emirates’ presence in the Swiss market.”

Lootah succeeds Juerg Mueller, who has been a pivotal figure in supporting Emirates’ successful operations in Switzerland for the past 16 years. Mueller’s tenure saw significant growth and solidification of Emirates’ presence in Swiss skies, cities, and communities. Under his leadership, the airline expanded its operations and services, reinforcing its reputation for excellence and reliability.

Emirates has been a prominent player in the Swiss aviation market since it first commenced flights to Zurich in August 1992. Over the past three decades, the airline has become an integral part of the Swiss travel and trade landscape. Currently, Emirates operates a total of four daily nonstop flights from Zurich and Geneva, providing seamless global connectivity with a convenient stop in Dubai. The airline utilizes a mix of A380 and B777 wide-body aircraft for these routes, ensuring a comfortable and luxurious travel experience for passengers.

Emirates SkyCargo plays a crucial role in strengthening trade links between Switzerland and the rest of the world. Offering a daily belly-hold cargo capacity of 100 tons, Emirates SkyCargo facilitates the smooth movement of goods into and out of the country, thereby bolstering Switzerland’s trade capabilities.

In mid-August, Emirates will mark a significant milestone with the introduction of fully refurbished Boeing 777 aircraft on the Geneva route. This move will make Geneva the first Emirates destination globally to be served by the retrofitted four-class cabin Boeing 777s. These aircraft will feature Emirates Premium Economy Class and the next-generation Business Class seats configured in a 1-2-1 layout. This world debut underscores Emirates’ commitment to offering cutting-edge amenities and unparalleled comfort to its passengers.

The introduction of the Premium Economy Class on the Geneva route is particularly noteworthy as it is the first time this class will be available in continental Europe. This new class offers a luxurious yet affordable travel option, featuring spacious seating, enhanced in-flight entertainment, and superior dining options. The next-generation Business Class seats, with their innovative design and layout, further enhance the premium travel experience, providing passengers with greater privacy, comfort, and convenience.

Emirates’ robust operations in Switzerland not only facilitate international travel but also play a significant role in the local economy. The airline’s extensive network and strategic partnerships help drive tourism, foster business relationships, and promote cultural exchanges between Switzerland and various global destinations. By providing reliable and frequent flights, Emirates supports the Swiss travel and trade industries, contributing to their growth and development.

As Mohammad Lootah takes the helm as Country Manager for Switzerland, Emirates is well-positioned to continue its legacy of excellence in the region. With a focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency, the airline is set to enhance its services and offerings, catering to the evolving needs of its passengers and business partners.

Emirates’ commitment to the Swiss market, combined with Lootah’s strategic leadership, promises a bright future for the airline’s operations in Switzerland. As the industry continues to recover and evolve in the post-pandemic era, Emirates remains dedicated to providing world-class travel experiences and fostering global connectivity.

Keep an eye on further developments as Emirates continues to innovate and expand its services, maintaining its position as a leader in the global aviation industry.
